The day was fine, no issues. We had to wait for a contractor in the evening and he was nearly an hour late and i found myself getting stressed waiting and that was an hour where I felt weaker, but not in any danger of actually smoking. Today has been pretty good and my confidence is still very high and growing with each day. In addition, i'mm putting $7 in an account every day so that will give me even more incentive.

Kicking the Nicotine Habit

Day 2.

Yesterday was the start of my smoke free life. Admitidly I am using a Nicotine patch as a replacement for the time being, but I see that as being fairly short term. I last smoked sunday evening and am now 1.5 days in. I'm surprised how few the times have been where I even thought about a cigarete, not wanted ne, but just thought, like after a meal, or with a beer. I'm feeling really confident, but cautios as well. Overconfidence is not a great thing. I have a call with a nurce from my mediacl insurance company later, a coach so to speak. Not quite sure what advice she can give that I dont already know, but theres no harm in a phone call.

I do already feel better, and I know that over the next few days that feeling will happen more and more. I've had loads of support from friends on facebok, lots of encouragement, and that helps.

Better get back to work now, i'll post on and off through this process to let you know how i'm doing.

Yesterday we framed the corner of the "L" where the pipes go upstairs, then put up another piece of blue board on the ceiling. Also put some greenhouse roofing on the porch so when we get the rain and snow in winter it will hopefully protect what's left of the porch roof and stop the water leaking inside issue that we had last year. It's a bit of a Heath Robinson affair but I think it will do the trick. Today I went to home depot to get more blue board, and the plan is to get another piece up in the ceiling then we can make a concerted attack on the walls. We also purchased the flooring for the "L" last weekend, and once the blue board is up we can start on the flooring, but that's probably at least a week out - maybe over the thanksgiving holiday. All this work concentrating on the "L" is because we've ordered a pellet stove and that gets delivered early December (we hope) so we need the room done by then, or at least where the fire is going.

Today is a beautiful day outside, high 60's, so I'm also doing one of my favorite hobbies, chopping up wood and burning. Alyson is chatting to Charlotte so work has stopped for a while.

Enough rambling, time to go feed the fire and cut some blue board to size. I'll update you all on progress as it happens, and I'll try and post a few pics of our work.

Day 6 of my Movember mo-gress!

I'm growing a moustache for Movember to change the face of men's health.
Sometimes when you have a stressful day or week, you need some silliness to break up the day.

Here is your dose... Follow the instructions to find your new name.

The following in an excerpt from a children's book, "Captain Underpants and the Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants" by Dave Pilkey:

The evil Professor forces everyone to assume new names...

Use the third letter of your first name to determine your New first name:

a = poopsie

b = lumpy

c = buttercup

d = gidget

e = crusty

f = greasy

g = fluffy

h = cheeseball

i = chim-chim

j = stinky

k = flunky

l = boobie

m = pinky

n = zippy

o = goober

p = doofus

q = slimy

r = loopy

s = snotty

t = tulefel

u = dorkey

v = squeezit

w = oprah

x = skipper

y = dinky

z = zsa-zsa

Use the second letter of your last name to determine the first half of your new last name:

a = apple

b = toilet

c = giggle

d = burger

e = girdle

f = barf

g = lizard

h = waffle

i = cootie

j = monkey

k = potty

l = liver

m = banana

n = rhino

o = bubble

p = hamster

q = toad

r = gizzard

s = pizza

t = gerbil

u = chicken

v = pickle

w = chuckle

x = tofu

y = gorilla

z = stinker

Use the fourth letter of your last name to determine the second half of your new last name:

a = head

b = mouth

c = face

d = nose

e = tush

f = breath

g = pants

h = shorts

i = lips

j = honker

k = butt

l = brain

m = tushie

n = chunks

o = hiney

p = biscuits

q = toes

r = buns

s = fanny

t = sniffer

u = sprinkles

v = kisser

w = squirt

x = humperdinck

y = brains

z = juice

Thus, for example, George W. Bush's new name is Goober Chickenshorts.

Remember that children laugh an average of 146 times a day, adults laugh an average of 4 times a day.

Put more laughter in your life!!!

We all do vanity searches now and again (OK - I do them way too often) but we all leave so much 'digital dust' on the interweb that it's pretty much impossible to hide anymore. I told some friends recently, before a week in Vegas, "What happens in Vegas stays on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc". It was meant as a joke, but in reality it's no joke at all. We all leave a footprint on the net and many of us don't actually know its happening. I have no wonder-pill answer for this problem. It wont go away, and I don't see it getting any better or easier. When I was a kid in the UK there was a TV message against drink-driving - "Think before you Drink before you Drive". There should be something similar for our web activities - "Think before you Post before you Submit" - doesn't have quite the same ring to it but the idea is the same - if you must post online, count to 10 before you hit "submit". THINK. In 10 years time when you are married and have kids (or some other grown up analogy) do you want someone else bringing that post to your attention?

This has been a public service announcement on behalf of a clean internet.
