Oil Furnace & Tank removal - Nov 9 2009

Finally after owning the house for over 2 years, and at least a year after removing all the copper pipework we  made a call to a company in NH who specialize in removing old oil tanks. This is the last shot if the furnace and taken a few hours before they were removed. First the tank was drained, a process that took about 20 minutes. Next was the furnace. This took quite a while because of its weight, the chap reckoned about 600lbs. This was manhandled outside the house where he spent a good hour removing its steel casing and then breaking up the main cast iron components. Once done, removing the tank was a fairly simple job, being disconnected and wheeled out of the house on a 2 wheeler. All in all it took about 3 hours for the chap to get it all done - as far as I'm concerned it was $450 very well spent.
